Why does the operational temperature go up to 200 degrees F if it can handle boiling water?

Your Buc can hold boiling water without issue, but you can’t! The Buc is not insulated, so it will feel like a bag full of boiling water if you hold it directly in your hands. You can still put boiling water in it, just do so carefully and be mindful of where you hold your Buc! We’d recommend letting water cool a bit before putting it into your Buc.

How do I wash my Buc?

Make sure all food particles are removed and give it a quick wash with mild, biodegradable soap and warm water, using a scrub brush on the inside if needed, and let hang (air) dry completely between uses. It's best to do this regularly between hiking seasons and long trips.

Is my Buc dishwasher-safe?

Yes, as the Buc is made of a thicker TPU than the Vecto, it is safe to put in the dishwasher.

How do I store my Buc?

Between trips and seasons, make sure your Buc is stored clean, dry, and out of sunlight. We recommend storing it open, with the slider tucked into the opening.

Why did you change the size of the Buc?

Based on customer feedback and our own product testing, we decided to redesign the Buc to hold two serving sizes instead of three. We found two servings was a more common backpacking meal size than three. But more importantly, we wanted folks to be able to reach the bottom of the Buc with a long handle spoon without the need to reach your hand inside - an unfortunate side effect of the three serving bag.

I’ve used my Buc for awhile and its color has started to change - is that normal?

As the Buc is BPA free, it will start to take on the color of the foods you eat in it. It’s still safe to eat out of and there will be no imparted flavor from your previous meals (so long as you wash your Buc in between them).

Why is my Buc slider so hard to open?

Sometimes the Buc slider can feel a little stuck when it’s first received, as the manufacturing and shipping process can create a suction effect. It will get much easier to open over time, but if you’re having a hard time with the initial slide, try holding an end of the slider in each hand and gently twisting each end in opposite directions, like cracking an ice cube tray. This will break the seal and help make the initial opening easier. As you use your Buc, it’s important to keep food particle outside of the seal to keep the slider moving correctly.

Can I use it as a sleeping bag warmer?

Technically yes, but there is always an inherent risk putting a liquid inside something as important to keep dry as a sleeping bag. For this reason, we do not recommend using it as a sleeping bag warmer.

Does my Buc come with a warranty?
