Where are the Diorite Gear poles made?
Our poles are handmade in our Portland workshop from a mix of US and international parts. Our carbon fiber is sourced from Goodwinds Composites in Washington.
Can I adjust or remove the straps?
Our straps are adjustable and removable, for folks that like a more streamlined grip.
I bought Cnoc poles and need a replaceable part - are the Diorite poles compatible?
Our Diorite poles are backwards compatible with the Cnoc poles and will remain that way. The right to repair is important to us - we want customers to be able to repair their poles for as long as they would like to.
What’s the difference between cork and EVA?
Our poles come with two different kinds of grip materials - cork and EVA. Which one you should order is all about personal preference! Our cork poles are more popular as many folks enjoy the way cork feels in their hands. It will absorb more sweat to prevent a slimey grip and the cork will mold to your hand over time. But cork comes with a heftier weight penalty. An EVA pole weighs 2.4 ounces less than its cork counterpart - a 4.8 ounce difference for the pair - which may be more appealing for a weight conscious hiker.
What does refurbished mean?
We try not to be wasteful of our materials at Diorite and our refurbished poles are a way to ensure less of our materials end up in a landfill before their time. Our refurbished poles are made with a mixture of new and used parts. They may have a midsection from a pole that had an issue with its grip, etc. The grips, straps, tips, and accessories are always new. Just like our non refurbished poles, they are made in house at our workshop in Portland, OR which allows us to be sure every piece still adds up to a quality pole - just one that also helps lower our carbon footprint.
How do I make a repair on my trekking pole?
Trekking poles take a beating and gear breaks over time. We believe in the right to repair here at Diorite Gear, and have designed our poles with that in mind.
